Basketball Loses to Bedford
January 25, 2012
On Tuesday, both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were defeated by Bedford. In the girls’ game, Janaya Strickland scored 8 and Cassie Wilson contributed 4 points in a 31-12 loss. In the boys’ game, the team had trouble scoring in the first half, eventually getting down by 26 to the Bears. However, a third quarter surge led by Colt Dooley cut the deficit to 5 points. In the end, the Tigers couldn’t continue the momentum, eventually losing by 9. High scorers for the Tigers were Colt Dooley and Ty Williford, both with 16.
Tigers Drop Two Close Games to OLV
January 18, 2012
Plagued by illness, the girls’ team took to the court on Tuesday with last minute additions Cassie Wilson and Kate Coffey added to the depleted roster. The girls fought hard, but dropped a 16-10 decision to the OLV Patriots. High scorers for the Tigers were Janaya Strickland and Cassie Wilson.
In the boys’ game, the Tigers put forth a tremendous effort but came up just short against OLV, falling by the score of 38-36. High scorers for the Tigers were Colt Dooley, Eric Geeter and Thomas Hudson.
Both teams are in action again on January 24 at home against Bedford.
Basketball Update
January 13, 2012
There was a full slate of basketball games yesterday with the girls’ team, boys “B” team and boys “A” team all in action. The girls’ basketball team played another thrilling game, coming from behind to take a two point victory over the Bedford Bears. In the boys “B” game it came down to the final buzzer, with Bedford escaping with a one point victory. In a very physical game, the boys’ “A” team led early but eventually fell to Bedford by 5 points.
Both the girls’ team and the boys “A” team will be in action on Tuesday at home, taking on Our Lady of Victory. Come out and support our Tigers.
Basketball Teams Split with Lafayette Christian
January 6, 2012
In an extremely gutsy performance, the Odyssey girls’ basketball team ran their record to 3-4 with a 14-12 overtime win over Lafayette Christian in LaGrange on Thursday. The team began the game with only five available players and played part of the overtime period with only 4 players after Janaya Strickland fouled out of the game. In addition to Janaya Strickland’s 11 points, Sydney Williams hit an incredibly important free throw in overtime and Alanya Frausto gave the Tigers the victory with the winning bucket.
Playing without their leading scorer and looking a bit rusty from the layover, the Odyssey boys’ team put up a good effort, but fell to Lafayette Christian by the score of 28-20. The leading scorers for the Tigers were Colt Dooley with 7 points and Nathan Chamberlin with 6.
